Your name and logo, in your own business category
A trademark protects your brand name, logo or slogan in the UAE. It's registered with the Ministry of Economy. Once it's registered, nobody else can use the same or a similar mark for the same type of goods or services.
Your trade license doesn't give you this. When you form a company, your trade name is reserved only with your licensing authority. Someone else can still file a trademark close to your name, and if they get the certificate first, the rights are theirs.
We handle the whole process. We search before filing, choose the right class for what you actually sell, follow the application through publication and collect your certificate.
Search first. The Ministry rejects a mark that's the same as, or close to, one already registered. We check this before you pay any government fee, so you don't lose money on a name that was never going to pass.
If people know you by your name, protect it
Only two, and we check both before filing
| Document | What we need |
|---|---|
| Trade license | A clear copy of your valid UAE trade license. The trademark is registered in the name shown on it. |
| Logo or word mark | Your logo as a clear JPEG image. If you're registering the name only, send the exact spelling you want protected. |
Also tell us what you sell or what services you offer. We use this to choose the right class. You don't need to know the class number yourself.
If the brand owner is based outside the UAE, the Ministry only accepts the application through a registered trademark agent. Tell us at the start and we'll confirm what extra documents apply to your case.
Five steps, with the Ministry's own timings
The timings for steps 2 to 5 come from the Ministry of Economy. The full process usually takes around four months when nobody objects to your mark.
| Step | What happens | Typical time |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Search and classAlmotmaken | We check for existing marks that are the same or similar, and choose the class that matches what you sell. | Before filing |
| 2. Application and examinationMinistry of Economy | We file the application. The Ministry examines it and issues a decision. | 20 working days |
| 3. PublicationMinistry of Economy | Once accepted, the mark is published in the official trademark bulletin, which comes out twice a month. | Next bulletin |
| 4. Objection periodPublic | Anyone who thinks your mark is too close to theirs can object during this window. | 30 days |
| 5. Registration certificateMinistry of Economy | The final registration fee is paid and the certificate is issued. | Within 30 days |
If the Ministry rejects the application, there's a right to appeal within 30 days. If someone objects during publication, the timeline gets longer while the objection is heard. We'll tell you straight away if either happens.
One total price, government fees included
Trademark registration with us costs AED 8,000 in total for one application. That price includes every Ministry of Economy fee and our service fee, so there is nothing else to pay for a standard filing.
The government fees aren't paid all at once. Each one is paid at its own stage. The Ministry charges a late penalty if a stage fee isn't paid within 30 days, so we track these dates for you.
If you need a faster decision, the Ministry also offers examination within one working day for an extra fee. Ask us and we will confirm the total. If your brand covers more than one type of goods or services, we'll confirm the cost for the extra class in writing before anything is filed.
Straight answers on trademark registration in the UAE, the cost, the time and what protects your name.
No. Your trade name is reserved only with the authority that issued your license. It stops someone taking the exact same trade name there, and that's all.
A trademark is registered with the Ministry of Economy and covers the whole UAE for your category of goods or services. That's what lets you stop someone using a name or logo close to yours.
AED 8,000 in total with us for one application. That includes all Ministry of Economy fees and our service fee for the search, filing and follow up.
Around four months when nobody objects. The Ministry takes 20 working days to decide on the application. After that the mark is published, there's a 30 day objection period, and the certificate is issued within 30 days of that.
An objection or a rejection that needs an appeal will add time.
A copy of your trade license and your logo as a JPEG image. Tell us what you sell as well, so we can pick the right class. If the owner is based outside the UAE, the application has to go through a registered agent, and we'll confirm any extra documents at the start.
The Ministry will reject a mark that's the same as, or similar to, one already registered for the same kind of goods or services. That's why we search before filing. If we find a problem, we tell you before you pay any government fee, and we can look at changing the name or logo so it can pass.
Ten years from registration. After that you renew it, and you can keep renewing it for as long as you use the brand. We can remind you before it expires.
We'll check whether it can be registered and which class it needs, and confirm the cost in writing before anything is filed.
No spam. No follow up calls unless you ask. We are open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm.
