A client came to me after forming his company through another consultant. Their fee for the setup itself had been fair, around two thousand dirhams. For a single residence visa they had charged him ten thousand.

He had never been given a breakdown. When he asked, he was told it was all government cost.

Then they told him there was a problem with his medical, and asked for two thousand more.

That is when he called me. Going through what he had actually paid for took an afternoon. He had been overcharged by roughly ten thousand dirhams, and there was no problem with his medical.

He had no way of knowing. Nobody had ever shown him which part of that money was a government fee and which part was margin.
